Dr. Rebecca Butchart, B.Sc., D.M.D.

Since 2003, Dr. Butchart has been an accomplished and dedicated dentist who has served both the Nanaimo and Parksville areas. Originally from Vancouver, she attended the University of British Columbia where she completed a Bachelor of Science degree in Cell Biology and Genetics in 1998 followed by a Doctor of Dental Medicine degree in 2003. Dr. Butchart spent most of the first six years of her dental career at the busy Wembley Dental Clinic in Parksville, where she gained invaluable experience working with and learning from several other dental professionals. She was then able to bring her skills and knowledge to the Departure Bay Dental Clinic to accompany those offered by Dr. Chase.

Dr. Butchart actively pursues continuing education in dentistry. By attending courses offered through the Upper Island District Dental Society, the Victoria and District Dental Society, the annual Pacific Dental Conference, and the E4D University in Texas, she is continually improving her expertise and knowledge. She is also a member of the Nanaimo and District Dental Society, the Canadian Dental Association, the British Columbia Dental Association and the College of Dental Surgeons of B.C. Dr. Butchart also dedicates time volunteering at the Vancouver Island University with the dental hygiene students as a clinical instructor.

Her treatment philosophy is to be honest and direct with her patients, and to use the latest techniques while providing gentle, respectful and comfortable care. Dr. Butchart is known for her friendly demeanor and encourages open communication throughout the course of treatment to make the dental experience as rewarding as possible for her patients.

Outside the Office

Drs. Chase and Butchart met at the University of British Columbia and were married shortly after completing their dental training. Together they own and operate the Departure Bay Dental Clinic. Each day they are amazed by the beautiful, relaxing ocean views seen from every operatory room, and are eager to share it with all their patients, both new and established.

Drs. Chase and Butchart have two wonderful children. As a family they believe in following an active, healthy lifestyle.
